NB - EXCELLENT- near new condition 95% - 98%, used but little, no noticeable marring of wood or metal, bluing near perfect (some wear at muzzle or sharp edges can be expected).

PRF - PROFESSIONALLY REFINISHED OR RESTORED

This is a excellent example of a WWII 1944 production, Springfield Armory M1C Sniper rifle that is fitted with a (non-matching) Griffin & Howe M1C scope mount with a late production M84 scope. It was completely rebuilt for the Korean war and it currently has the late light gray arsenal reparkerized finish with a birch/hardwood replacement stock and handguard set. The M84 scope is numbered 29387 and both the Griffin and Howe M1C mount and base are unnumbered replacements. The G&H scope base is correctly mounted on the left side of the receiver with three screws and two taper pins. As noted is the side of the scope has the standard M84 nomenclature plate with the noted serial number. The scope has the standard, standing post and cross-hair reticle used on all M84 scopes, however it does not come with any rubber eye-piece. The rifle is currently fitted with a Korean war era Springfield Armory barrel marked, "S-A 1-52" that has a small "P" firing proof on the lower edge. The top of the rear sight cover is marked in white "4.5" which is probably the bore erosion reading. The rifle itself is fitted with a mix of WWII and post-war parts, to include the late production wide base gas cylinder, front sight, high hump gas cylinder lock, and four slot gas plug. The left side of the buttstock is stamped with a single boxed "SA/R" rebuild cartouche with a double circle "P" proof in the pistol grip area. This example comes with the following components that include the cheekpad, flash hider, web sling, scope case and cleaning kit and the noted scope mount and scope. This example was sold via the CMP lottery in 1996 and it comes with its sales receipt, data sheet and shipping box.

Very fine as arsenal refurbished showing minimal handle and use after being refurbished. The stock and handguards are also very fine as arsenal refurbished with the sides of the buttstock having been sanded during rebuilding. The various components should all be in very fine to excellent condition.
