Manufactured in 1898. Beaded dovetailed blade front, elevation adjustable rear, and tang peep sights. The barrel has the two-line address/patent dates ending in "AUGUST 1, 1893." The top of the receiver is marked "MARLIN SAFETY." Blue barrel, magazine tube and forend cap; casehardened remaining parts and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The barrel and magazine retain 70% original blue finish thinning to a brown. The remaining surfaces have a few areas of original case colors, otherwise silvered out. The refinished wood is also very good with some minor dings and scratches and the varnish beginning to craze. Mechanically excellent.
