Confirmed by the included Colt factory letter, this pistol was a prototype, display piece and sample kept by the Colt factory. The letter also confirms caliber, blue finish with gold etched Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association Golden Age of Flying slide motifs, slide with target sights and solid rib, and varnished rosewood stocks with Custom Shop medallions. Note that the pistol is missing parts (barrel, bushing, and slide return spring). Complete with Colt "wood grain" box with Custom Shop label numbered to the gun and marked "(PROTOTYPE)".

Very fine as incomplete (see above). The pistol retains over 99% original blue finish with a few light handling marks. The grips are excellent with only the slightest handling marks. Box is very good with taped end label.
