Confirmed by the included Colt factory letter, this pistol was kept by the Colt factory as a sample and display pistol. The letter also confirms the caliber, barrel length, finish, rosewood grips with Custom Shop coat-of-arms medallion inlay, and gold etched State of Hawaii Organization of Police Officers, Honolulu slide motifs. Barrel is marked with caliber and MKIV Series 70 markings. Complete with a Colt "wood grain" box with Custom Shop label numbered to gun and marked "(archives)". Also included is a shipping invoice dated 04/07/82 indicating that this pistol was "to be placed in archives".

Excellent. The pistol retains over 99% original blue finish with some minor discoloration around the sights and a few mild handling marks. The grips are also excellent with the exception of a hairline crack with very small missing chip on the left panel. Box is very good.
