Description:

Manufactured in 1890, this revolver features blade front and frame notch rear sights. The top of the barrel is marked with the later, block style one-line address, the left side of the frame is marked with the three line, three patent date marking followed by "U.S." The complete matching serial number is marked on the frame, trigger guard and back strap, partial serial number (1493) on the cylinder and barrel (under the ejector rod housing). The assembly number "120" is stamped on the loading gate. The small inspector markings "RAC" and "P" are marked on the bottom of the barrel just ahead of the cylinder pin, and on the cylinder with "RAC" only on the frame (above serial number). There is a "K" below the backstrap serial number. The revolver is fitted with a smooth one piece grip. The accompanying Colt factory letter verifies the serial number, caliber and finish, with the barrel length and type of stocks not listed. The letter states that the revolver was delivered to the U.S. Government Inspector at the Colt plant as 1 of 250 on 18 March 1890.

Rating Definition:

About good. Overall the revolver has a smooth brown-gray patina with traces of original blue finish on/around the ejector rod housing. The frame has some traces of silvered out case colors in the protected areas. There is some scattered minor pitting, 6 notches on the ejector rod head and a few minor dings on the butt. The heavily worn grip is fair with some minor gouges (mostly on the bottom) and some minor dings and scratches, along with some missing chips on the bottom edge. Mechanically fine.
