Manufactured in 1964, the factory letter confirms the single gun shipment of this revolver to "Rod" Redwing in Sun Valley, California, on June 4, 1964. Though Redwing played many minor rolls in Western movies and television shows, his true claims to fame were his quick-draw and gun handling skills, which he passed on to many of Hollywood's biggest names of the time. Some of these stars include Alan Ladd, Glenn Ford, Jerry Lewis, Henry Fonda, Clayton Moore, Ronald Reagan, and Elvis Presley. Redwing also worked as a gunsmith at Stembridge Gun Rentals, which partially led to his advisory role on so many Hollywood productions, while also confirming his ability to complete the customizations done to this revolver, which does not entirely match the description in the factory letter which confirms all but the finish, ported barrel, and the grips which are "not listed". In the research included by the consignor, Redwing is shown in an article from the 1964 issue of "The Gun Illustrated" firing a Python with a 2 1/2 inch barrel which shows the blue finish as stated in the factory letter. The revolver now shows a bright finish and a ported barrel. "To RODD REDWING/From FRED A. ROFF JR./President Colt's" is engraved on top of the revolver, and both grips are marked "ROD REDWING/HOLLYWOOD/CALIF". Includes the factory letter and the consignor's research.

Good as cleaned bright, with numerous dings and scratches consistent with heavy use. There is a light cylinder drag line. The grips are very fine with some dings, scratches and sharp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent.
