Description:

Manufactured from 1868 to 1875. The factory engraving consists of Gustave Young floral scrollwork on a punch dot background covering 90% of the surface. The cylinder, trigger, and hammer thumb piece feature gold plating over nickel. The remaining surfaces are nickel plated. Matching assembly mark "H" is found on the grip frame, cylinder, and barrel. The period case contains a key, cleaning rod and empty cartridge block for 40 rounds.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retaining 85% original nickel plating mixed with flaking exposing areas of smooth dark patina. 60% original gold plating remains in the cylinder flutes, and traces of original gold remain on the trigger and hammer thumb piece. The slightly undersized grips are also very fine with minimal handling marks and attractive fiery colors. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine with the faded lining showing typical high spot wear, absent initial oval and chip in the veneer on the lid and minor handling/storage marks. Provenance: Dr. Gerald Klaz collection.
