Manufactured in 1950. According to page 177 of "L. C. Smith Shotguns" by William Brophy, only 220 Ideal grade guns were built as .410 bores. Blued, London steel barrels with dual white bead sights (mid-bead absent) on the matted, solid rib, chambers marked at 3 inches with ejectors, standard markings on the flats, and right barrel marked "L.C. SMITH - 410 GA.- IDEAL - FULTON, N.Y. U.S.A." The casehardened action and sideplates bear the standard flowing floral engraving and zig-zag borders with "L. C. SMITH" on either sideplate, and standard water table markings. Single selective trigger and a tang mounted manual safety switch. Lightly figured, multi-point checkered walnut beavertail forearm with engraved fittings and standard rotary latch release and pistol grip stock with distinctive unmarked Marlin button grip cap and checkered bare butt. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): choke constriction .000/.004 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 1/2 inch drop at heel; 14 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs 7 oz.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retaining 95% original blue on the barrels, 85% original case colors with the balance turning silver, and 25% blue on the trigger guard with the balance a mix of brown and grey patina. Some areas showing light spotting on the barrel and action. The stock is slightly ill-fitting around some of the inletting and has sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
