Description:

This impressive factory engraved, silver and gold plated revolver was manufactured by the Colt Custom Shop as one of a limited run of only 250. Features standard fixed blade and frame notch sights, one-line Hartford address on top of the barrel, and in place of the normal patent dates, the left side of the frame has been stamped "February 26,1846/January 10, 1917" the birth and death dates of famed wild west showman Buffalo Bill Cody. According to "The Post-War Colt Single-Action Revolver, 1976-1986" by Wilkerson, the factory "C" level engraving was performed by A.A. White Engravers. Features American scroll with contrasting punch dot backgrounds. The left side of the barrel is inscribed "Buffalo Bill Historical Center/WINCHESTER MUSEUM/1 of 250" followed by a horse and rider scene. The left side of the recoil shield is engraved with a detailed bust of an American bison. Fitted with a brilliantly gold plated ejector rod and housing, cylinder pin, cylinder, trigger, and hammer. The grips are smooth with a scrimshawed image of Buffalo Bill and his "TE" cattle brand on the left panel and inset Colt Custom Shop medallions. Includes the original wood grain box, red leather presentation case, shipping sleeve, and papers. Provenance: The Mac McCroskie Collection

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retaining 99% original finishes with some light handling marks. The grips are also excellent with a few very light handling marks, and a small hairline crack on the left front. Mechanically excellent. The case and box are very fine with a few light handling/storage marks.
