Blued Damascus steel barrels beaded blade front and five position (one standing, four folding) rear sight on the on the smooth, solid rib which is marked "PATENTED OCTOBER 10TH 1865" at the breech as well as "WESTLEY RICHARDS 170. NEW BOND ST LONDON.", 1999 dated London reproofs on the flats, and single extractor. The casehardened bar-in-wood action displays attractive scroll engraving extending onto the trigger guard, tangs, and hammers and "WESTLEY RICHARDS" marked on either lock plate. Nicely figured, multi-point checkered forend with cross bar attachment and horn tip inlay and straight grip stock with blank inscription plaque and steel buttplate. The length of pull is 14 3/16 inches. The rifle weighs 13 lbs. 5 oz.
Very fine as refurbished, showing 80% of the brown finish on the barrels, 80% case colors on the action, the trigger guard has a mostly dark patina with some areas of light spotting. The wood is very good with a few dings and scratches, a crack from the left lock to the top tang, and a small crack and a chip at the front of the stock, some wear around the buttplate, moderate pitting on the buttplate, and worn but well-defined checkering. Mechanically excellent.
