Manufactured in November of 1941, this rifle is fitted with a Springfield barrel stamped with a set of Birmingham proof and caliber markings on the right side of the chamber. Blade front sight with intact screw cover and peep rear sight with locking adjustment drums, with a Springfield "SA" bolt, trigger housing, hammer, safety, and early pattern uncut operating rod. The Birmingham barrel markings partially cover the original Springfield marks, obscuring the last digit of the "9-4?" date, with a "crown/BNP" and "crossed scepter" stamps. The smooth pistol grip stock is stamped with "S.A./G.H.S." and "crossed cannon" cartouches on the left side, a circled serifed "P" on the wrist, green canvas sling and a checkered buttplate. Very fine, with 85% plus original parkerized finish, showing discoloration and pitting on the operating rod, bright edge and cycling wear, and mild handling marks. The refinished stock is very good, with clearly legible cartouche, signs of light sanding and minor dings and dents overall. The bayonet has been shortened and refinished, with mild wear overall. Mechanically excellent.
