Description:

Manufactured in 1942, a set of British proofs have been added to the side of the chamber; these markings are associated with M1 Garands supplied to Britain as part of the Lend-Lease Program, as well as rifles that re-entered the United States through commercial channels via England. Blade front sight with screw cover and peep rear sight with locking bar and "BATTLE RANGE" elevation knob. The barrel is dated "S-A-1-1-42", with the addition of a set of a "scimitar" nitro proof and tonnage/caliber markings. Fitted with a Springfield bolt, trigger housing, hammer, safety, and uncut operating rod. The stock is "S.A./G.H.S." and "crossed cannons" marked, with a brown leather sling and a steel buttplate. Scant traces of paint are present on the forearm; introduced as a safety measure when P-17 Enfields entered British inventory, painted forearm bands were added to many American rifles in British service, to reduce the risk of loading a 303 round into a 30-06 or vice versa, and these were often scoured off once the rifle came back to the States. A spare gas plug and cleaning tools are contained in the butt trap.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 98% of the original parkerized finish, showing some light edge wear and handling marks overall. The stock is very fine, with a number of scuffs, dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
