Description:

Introduced in 1949. The F, or Premier, grade was the highest offered by Remington, and each one was hand made by the master smiths in the Remington Custom Shop. Single nickel sight bead on the vent rib, with a modified choke, the two-line patent and address markings on the right side of the barrel, and the 2 3/4 inch chamber markings on the reverse. A 5 1/2 inch wedge of scroll engraving with punch-dot background is present on each side of the breech, incorporating banners which surround the markings. The model and serial number markings are hand engraved on the underside of the receiver, which shows over 98% coverage of fine scrollwork, with punch dot backgrounds, a dog's head on the trigger guard, floral patterns on the trigger guard retention pins, and a starburst design on the rear of the operating handle. Each side features a three-panel game scene, with a pair of pointers on the right flanked by bobwhite quail and a woodcock, and a pair of setters on the left flanked by mallards and pheasants. The initials "CE" are hidden in the border scrolls on the left side, suggesting Carl Ennis as the engraver of the piece. Fitted with an extra-fancy high grade walnut stock, featuring sharp checkering on the beavertail forearm and pistol grip, integrating curved and sharply angled border lines, a Remington grip cap with Fleur-de-Lis accents, an untouched gold inscription panel on the underside, and a Kick-Eez solid recoil pad.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 98% of the original blue finish, showing some minor edge wear and handling marks overall. The refinished wood is very fine, with a small section absent from the toe of the recoil pad, a few minor dings, and attractive checkering and grain. Mechanically excellent.
