The fine multi-groove rifled barrel has light engraving around the blade front sight, notch rear sight, and breech and has "H F" on the upper left and right respectively. The consignor noted these markings may be for Hanns Faschang of Vienna (active in the mid-17th century). The lock has a brass wheel cover, floral and mask engraving, and a nicely sculpted dog. The rifle has double set triggers and a finger groove trigger guard. The stock has staghorn/bone/antique ivory inlays engraved with mainly floral patterns. The patchbox lid has a running stag. The cheekpiece inlay has a lion and ball design. The stock also has "513", "557," and "34" inventory type markings and what appears to be a wax seal on the comb/wrist.

Fine with mottled gray patina, minor pitting, distinct engraving, aged patina on the brass, and generally minor age and storage related wear. The stock is also fine and has some thin cracks and repairs including some professionally restored/replaced inlays, general light scratches and dings, and distinct designs. The set triggers are mechanically fine. The lock has not been tested.
