Description:

Light infantry fusils were lighter weight, carbine bore muskets developed during the French & Indian War (Seven Years War) and issued mainly to specialized light infantry units designed to be more agile then the regular infantry. The smoothbore barrel has a block front sight/bayonet lug and Ordnance proofs at the breech. The lock has the Georgian cipher at the center, "TOWER" at the tail, and light border engraving. The furniture is brass and similar to the full-sized "Brown Bess" muskets of the era. The stock has the swell at the ramrod entry pipe, a raised plateau around the barrel tang, the rail style comb, and Ordnance marks including a "1780" or "1786" dated storekeeper mark on the right side of the butt.

Rating Definition:

Very good with mottled gray and brown patina, mild pitting, aged patina on the brass furniture, and general mild overall wear. The refinished stock has some repairs around the lock and mild dings and scratches. Mechanically fine.
