Similar pistols have been identified as German or Dutch from c. 1620-1650 and were used in the English Civil War and wouldn't have been out of place in settlements such as Jamestown. This one has no visible markings. There is an "XXII" marking on the bottom right of the octagonal barrel under the lock. The lock is of flat beveled type with an exposed wheel. The stock is of fruitwood or walnut and has iron furniture.

Fine with silver-gray patina, some faint pitting, minor damage on the forend cap, and general minor overall wear. The stock is also fine and has mild scratches and dings, a few faint cracks, and some tiny flakes. Lock not tested.
