Border and scroll engraved action with carved percussion fence and rebounding back action lock signed “AGNEW & SON”. Figured 13 3/4 inch pistol grip stock including spacers and orange rubber heel plate, the grip and forearm checkered. The forearm with large horn cap, the butt with plugged lanyard piercing and a small blank white metal oval initial escutcheon on the underside. Weight 13 lbs. 9 oz. Provenance: The Malcolm King Collection

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel retains 90% older re-browned finish with a well-defined Damascus pattern and clear barrel signature. Action retaining 90% original casehardened finish with some age related fading to grey, the lock with around 50% original casehardened finish, engraving clear to both. Stock has been cleaned and re-oiled, checkering well-defined with some slight age related wear, some storage and handling blemishes and marks throughout, darkened patches behind the action from age related oil soak. Trigger guard tang screws standing slightly proud. The filled piercing on the butt indicates that at some time during the gun’s working life it was used tied to a punt. Mechanically excellent.
