Manufactured in 1896, this is a deluxe version of Marlin's famous Model 1893. Since the model was considered a "working man's gun," Marlin customers were generally not inclined to spend extra money on deluxe features. The rifle is fitted with a German blade front sight, an elevation adjustable rear sight, and a folding tang peep sight. "MARLIN SAFETY" is stamped on top of the receiver, and the barrel has the two-line Marlin legend ending with the August patent date the caliber designation. The forearm and pistol grip stock feature factory checkering. The buttstock is fitted with a crescent buttplate.

Fine, retaining 50% plus original blue finish with thinning to brown on the balance. The loading gate retains 40% original nitre blue. The receiver retains 60% original case colors. 70% original case colors remain on the hammer and lever. Patterns of original case colors remain on the buttplate. The wood is very fine with some minor dings and scratches and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
