Considered a "working man's gun" of the period, Marlin customers were not inclined to spend additional money on deluxe features, thus making deluxe Model 39 a rarity in lever action collecting. This deluxe example was manufactured in 1959 and features highly figured walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with a checkering pattern similar to the factory No. C. The rifle is fitted with a blade front sight (bead absent) and elevation adjustable rear sight on a barrel stamped with the two-line Marlin legend and the caliber designation. The upper tang is stamped "Marlin/MOD. 39" along with a five-pointed star. The buttstock is fitted with a Marlin hard rubber shotgun buttplate. Provenance: The Wayne Connor Collection

Fine, retaining 80% original blue finish with thinning to brown on the balance. The frame retains 60% muted original case colors. The wood is very fine with a stress line at the upper tang, some minor handling marks, and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
