The multi-stage barrel has an approximately .70 caliber bore and 1 1/4 inch muzzle opening, London proofmarks flanking a "crown/IU" maker's mark on the left at the breech, and an iron tang. The front trigger guard screw fastens into the barrel tang. The trigger guard is iron, and the trigger is offset to the right. The brass sideplate is similar to a Sea Service Brown Bess and is followed by a small "VC" marking on the wood. The brass buttplate is secured by small nails.

Very good with attractively aged patina visible on the barrel, dark brown patina on the iron along with moderate oxidation and pitting, and general mild overall wear. The stock is also very good and has a repair and absent pin at the forend tip, some cracks, small insect hole, small chips, and light scratches and dings. Mechanically fine.
