The Colt London Model was manufactured from 1853 to 1857, with this example being manufactured in 1855 this is a 2nd Model with a steel grip frame. The barrel is marked "---ADDRESS. COL: COLT. LONDON---". The left side of the frame is marked "COLTS/PATENT". London "crown/V and "crown/GP" are stamped on the left side of the barrel just in front of the wedge and on the cylinder between each nipple. The cylinder is roll engraved with the naval scene. The barrel, cylinder, trigger guard and back strap were blued; frame, hammer and loading lever casehardened. The full serial number is marked on the loading lever, barrel lug, frame, trigger guard, cylinder and back strap. The partial number "9826" is marked on the wedge.

Rating Definition:

Very good. All metal surfaces have a mottled grayish patina. The loading lever does retain strong traces of the original case colors in protected areas. There are a few minor dings around the wedge. The grips are fine with almost all of the original varnish remaining, scattered minor pressure dents and dings and some edge wear. All markings and cylinder scene are clear. Mechanically fine.
