Manufactured in 1876, the top of the barrel marked with the standard two-line Colt address, patent marking on the bottom, and the left of the barrel with the desirable etched panel marked "COLT NEW 22". The left of the frame has the caliber marking and the serial number is marked on the butt. The frame, cylinder, and barrel have period, likely retailer, floral scroll and zig-zag line engraving that is cut through the finish. It is fitted with a pair of smooth pearl grips. This specific revolver is pictured on p. 404 of "The Colt Engraving Book Volume I" by R.L. Wilson. The included factory letter lists shipment to B. Kittredge & Co. in Cincinnati, Ohio. Very fine, retains 95% of the period retailer applied nickel finish, crisp engraving with some of the brass frame visible where the engraving was cut, and a crisp etched panel. The attractive grips are excellent with only the slightest handling marks. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine with some mild wear.
