Description:

Manufactured in 1912 with standard two-line address/patent dates and Rampant Colt on the left of the slide, caliber marking on the right, serial number on the left of the frame, "VP" and "5" marked trigger guard, standard features, and fitted with a pair of smooth grips with Colt medallions. The pistol was subsequently period embellished with 75% plus coverage floral scroll engraving that was cut through the finish. The included factory letter confirms the current configuration, grips not listed, as well as shipment to L.F. Reyna on 4 October 1912. There is a Mr. and Mrs. L.F. Reyna mentioned in a 1905 article in "The Brooklyn Daily Eagle", which describes the couple as one of many from New York vacationing in Miami, Florida. Includes a leatherette wrapped presentation case, two 50-count boxes of Peters .25 ACP cartridges (both appear to contain all of the cartridges), an extra magazine, and a key.

Rating Definition:

Fine, retains 50% of the original blue finish with the balance having thinned to a smooth grey patina and some scattered light pitting, mostly on the right side, and crisp engraving cut through the finish. The grips are excellent with only the slightest handling marks. Mechanically excellent. The case is very fine with minimal handling/storage wear.
