Description:

Manufactured in the 2000-19500 serial number range, the Model 1900 was DWM's first true commercial production Luger, and the American Eagle variant was intended specifically for export to the lucrative United States market. This example, bearing serial number "2061", is the 61st production American Eagle and one of the first Luger pistols to reach American shores. In addition to its significance as a Luger, it also represents a significant step in the development of civilian semi-automatic pistols, marking the movement from the potent yet bulkier Borchardt and Mauser Broomhandle pistols that were comparable to revolvers of the day for ease of carry. These Lugers have the early features such as the long frame with flat recoil spring, 4 3/4 inch tapered barrel, recessed breech bolt, dished toggles with toggle lock on the side, 4 3/4 inch tapered barrel, grip safety, and first type safety lever with the bright polished lower safety area. The American Eagle seal of the United States is marked on top of the chamber, "GERMANY" on the front of the frame, and the full serial number is located on the front of the frame and underside of the barrel with the last two digits of the serial number on the face of the recoil lug, takedown lever, side plate, breech bolt, toggle assembly, side of the grip safety, and the underside of both grip panels. It is fitted with walnut checkered grips, and it has an unmarked magazine with a nickel plated body, and walnut base. Includes an unmarked commercial period brown leather holster and a Superior brand brown leather dual magazine pouch.

Rating Definition:

Fine, retains 60% faded original blue finish with smooth gray and brown patina on the balance mainly concentrated on the grip straps, some scattered light pitting on the sides of the barrel and a few small patches on the top right chamber area of the upper receiver, and sharp markings and edges in the metal overall. The grips are very good with a chip in the top rear corner of the left panel and a few light wear spots. Mechanically excellent. Included holster and magazine pouch are both fine.
