This is a scarce example of an early World War II Russian Izhevsk Arsenal manufactured SVT-40 sniper rifle that is complete with a "1943" dated PU sniper scope fitted on a post-war scope mount. These SVT-40 rifles were highly prized by both the Finnish and German Army Snipers, and were very effectively used throughout World War II due to their semi-automatic capability, stopping power, and large capacity 10-round detachable box magazine. The top of the receiver is stamped with the Izhevsk "arrow inside a triangle" factory mark over "1941" for the year of manufacture, with the left of the receiver bearing the original Cyrillic prefix serial number (transliterated as "GS1845"), matching serial numbers on the charging handle, bolt, trigger guard, and left side of stock, "4019" on the replacement magazine, and assorted Soviet inspection marks on the various components. Hooded post front and tangent rear sights, and first type six slot muzzle brake. Standard hardwood pistol grip stock with ventilated handguard, ventilated blue steel heat shield, and flat blue steel Izhevsk marked buttplate. The scope is numbered "31972" below the date and hammer and sickle symbol. Includes leather lens caps, a green canvas web scope cover, and green canvas web sling.

Very fine, retains 80% original blue finish with areas of the top cover turned to a smooth brown patina. The replacement magazine retains half of its arsenal refinished blue finish mixed with brown patina and scattered light pitting visible underneath the finish. The stock is fine as sanded and re-oiled, with some light scratches and handling marks, and visible serial number stamping. Mechanically excellent. The scope is fine with 60% original blue finish on the tube with smooth brown patina on the balance, and crisp clear optics.
