Description:

This incredibly high condition Colt Model 1855 Pocket revolver is a "Model 2" variant manufactured c. 1859 with a 3 1/2 inch octagon barrel with a cone front sight and the pointing hand followed by the two-line, two-block patent and address marking and a round cylinder with the cabin and Indian roll-scene. The bottom of the barrel also has a "K" marking. A sight groove and notch rear sight are incorporated into the top strap. The revolver is finished with blue on the barrel, cylinder, and frame; casehardening on the loading lever and hammer, and has a "piano" varnish finish on the nicely figured walnut grip. It comes with a period correct partitioned case containing an Eley Brothers cap tin with green label, a few lead bullets, double sided eagle powder flask, blued two cavity bullet mold with "COLT'S/PATENT" marked on the sprue cutter, key, and screwdriver. The underside of the case has a Turner's Express of Portland, Maine paper label. Provenance: The Norm Vegely Collection

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retaining 95% plus bright original high polish blue finish with slight wear on the high edges and scattered handling marks. The cylinder scene is crisp. The hammer and loading lever retain 85% original case colors. The grip is also excellent with nearly all original varnish remaining. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine with minor handling/storage marks and high spot wear on the lining. The accessories are fine. An exceptional cased Colt Model 1855 revolver that will be difficult to improve upon.
