Description:

This attractive western leather holster and cartridge money belt was manufactured circa 1885 by famed Miles City, Montana saddlery Moran Brothers. The holster and belt are marked "MORAN BRO'S/MILES CITY, M.T." The holster fits a 4 3/4 inch barrel Colt Single Action Army revolver and features an open top and a closed toe. Already well accomplished saddle markers by the time they opened their own shop in 1879, brothers Thomas and Hugh Moran are believed have operated the first saddlery in legendary cattle town Miles City, Montana. Around 1895 the brothers sold their business to Charles E. Coggshall. Provenance: The Marty Lane Collection; The Greg Lampe Collection

Rating Definition:

Very fine as a well cared for late 19th century holster rig made by renown Montana saddlery Moran Brothers. The rig displays very well and makes for a sought after accessory to accompany a 4 3/4 inch barrel SAA.
