Description:

Originally manufactured in 1896, this Single Action Army revolver has subsequently been beautifully custom embellished by Master Engraver Ben Lane, whose signature "BGL" is marked on the front of the frame. The standard two-line address is marked on top of the barrel and the caliber marking is on the left. The two-line patent marking followed by the circled Rampant Colt on the frame. The revolver also shows 75% coverage, masterfully executed, traditional Cuno Helfricht style floral scroll engraving. The screws, cylinder pin, and trigger are finished in nitre blue. It has standard features and has been fitted with a pair of smooth grips. The included factory letter confirms the caliber and barrel length, and listing the finish as blue when shipped to Simmons Hardware Co. in St. Louis on 5 February 1896.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as professionally embellished by Master Engraver Ben Lane, retains 99% plus of the nickel and nitre blue finishes with minimal wear and crisp engraving. The grips are also very fine with minimal handling evidence and some hairline age cracks on the butt of each panel. Mechanically excellent.
