As "the ultimate lever gun" for over a century, the Winchester Model 1894 rifle holds a special place in the hearts of collectors. These "working guns" were not often ordered with special, extra cost features, making semi-deluxe takedown variations highly sought after by collectors, especially those in high condition like this example. This Model 1894 is fitted with a half magazine, a Lyman beaded blade front sight, a Lyman two leaf rear sight and a Lyman receiver sight. The barrel has the two-line address/patent dates legend and caliber designation on the top flat and the two-line nickel steel marking on the upper left flat. The upper tang has the three-line model/patent marking. Sling swivel eyelets are mounted on the underside of the forend cap and buttstock. The forearm and pistol grip stock are checkered. The buttstock is fitted with a non-factory installed recoil pad. The left side of the lower tang is stamped "15925 S." The stock inlet is unmarked. The pistol grip has a Winchester hard rubber cap. The accompanying factory letter (copy) states the rifle was received in the warehouse on June 18, 1903 and shipped the next day with a half octagon barrel in .30 caliber, takedown configuration, plain trigger, checkered plain wood stock with pistol grip, Lyman receiver, leaf, and hunting front sights, half magazine, shotgun butt with recoil pad, and screw eyes.

Fine , retaining 75% plus original blue finish thinning to brown on the balance. 70% original niter blue remains on the loading gate. The wood is fine with a sliver at the upper tang, minor handling marks, and some wear to the checkering. Mechanically excellent.
