Manufactured in 1938, the two-line address and patent dates marked on top of the barrel, and the model and caliber markings on the left. The Rampant Colt is marked on the left of the frame. It is fitted with blade front and groove rear sights and a pair of checkered walnut grips with Colt medallions. The included factory letter confirms the current configuration, grips not listed, as well as shipment to the City of Pottstown, Pennsylvania on 27 September 1938, likely indicating intended police use, though the high condition would suggest that it was never issued. Includes the original box (faintly numbered), original test target, and Railway Express Agency shipping receipt dated two days after the shipment date listed in the letter.

Excellent plus, retains 99% plus of the original finish with only the slightest handling marks and edge wear, and a faint cylinder drag line. The grips are also excellent plus with crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The box is fine with some mild edge/corner wear and some separation of the lid corners.
