Designed around Galand's signature slide-open extractor action, the Sportsman is a multi-function handgun and carbine with an integral side-folding wire stock. Folded, it lays along the right side, terminating nearly flush with the muzzle, and can be rapidly flipped out to give a length of pull of about 14 1/2 inches. Blade front and notch rear sights, with "GALAND/PARIS" on the left side of the barrel, Liege proof on the front cylinder face, and a recurring assembly number "11" on the cylinder, extractor, grip frame and buttstock. Grips are smooth hardwood, with a lanyard swivel.

Very good, with 80% plus black period refurbished enamel finish, showing bright wear along the high edges and scattered handling marks, along with some dings below the finish on the frame and some mild tool marks. The triggerguard and stock remain blue finished, with minor spotting and areas of brown patina. The grips are good as sanded and revarnished, with what appears to be some heat exposure on the left panel and light dings. Mechanically fine.
