Description:

A rectangular brass plaque is affixed to the right of the stock below the action inscribed in script: "To Frank Farrell Jr./From 1 Bn 7 Cav./Tabu-dong Korea/20 Sept ‘50”. There is a General Francis ("Frank") William Farrell who served as commander of the Korean Military Advisory Group between 1950-1951, responsible for training and logistical support to the fledgling South Korean Army. The origin of the presentation inscription is unconfirmed at the current time, although it coincides with the Battle of Tabu-dong that occurred between August 3rd-August 29th, 1950 between the United Nations including the U.S. forces allied with South Korean forces against North Korean forces, in which the 7th Cavalry Regiment heavily participated in. It is likely this Mosin-Nagant rifle was confiscated from the North Korean forces, as they were supported by the Soviet Union. The rifle is "1929" dated on top of the barrel at the breech, with a hex receiver and has some parts chrome plated. Mixed serial numbers visible on the components. Absent cleaning rod.

Rating Definition:

Very good, retains the majority of the refinished blue and chrome finishes, with some scattered moderate freckling/corrosion and patches of light pitting visible underneath the finish. The stock is also very good as sanded and re-oiled, slightly undersized at some of the edges, with some cracks at the front end of the handguard, a reattached cracked section on the bottom of the buttstock and some light scratches. Mechanically excellent.
