Description:

This example was manufactured under a limited contract of approximately 156 Lugers delivered between the end of 1935 and end of 1941 designated the m/910 for use by the Portuguese Navy, found in the 2284v-2289v, 2501v-2571v and 4301v serial number ranges. Only 127 of these Portuguese Navy m/910 Lugers were fitted with a grip safety. It is chambered in 9 mm, has a blank unmarked chamber, the Mauser banner on the toggle, 1906 pattern frame, smooth back strap, and fixed sights. The left side of the barrel extension and underside of the barrel have small "crown/crown/U" firing proofs, and the pistol is numbered in the military manner with matching serial numbers visible on various components including the aluminum magazine base. "SEGURANCA" marked lower safety area and "CARREGADA" marked extractor. Reference pages 634-635 of the book "Pistole Parabellum Volume II" by Sturgess and Gortz for information related to these Portuguese Navy m/910 Luger pistols.

Rating Definition:

Fine, retains 60% original blue finish with smooth gray and brown patina on the balance and some patches of light pitting. 40% straw colors visible on the small parts. The grips are also fine with numerous scattered minor chips in the otherwise defined checkering. Mechanically excellent.
