Description:

This is an exceptionally fine original example of the first pistol chambered in 9mm Parabellum (9mm Luger), the DWM Model 1902 American Eagle "Fat Barrel" semi-automatic pistol, intended specifically for the lucrative United States market. Only approximately 600-700 of these pistols in this chambering were manufactured and are typically found in the serial number ranges 22100-22300 and 22450-22900. Fixed sights, with the American Eagle on the chamber, "DWM" on the front toggle link, and the following early Luger features: dished toggles with toggle lock on the right side, recessed breech block, "fat" profile 9mm barrel, flat recoil spring, grip safety and no stock lug. The small parts are straw finished, with a pair of finely checkered walnut grips and a nickel finished magazine with a walnut base correctly marked "Cal. 9m/m" on bottom. Parts are matching overall in the "commercial" pattern. The front of the frame is marked "GERMANY", appropriate to an American import of the era.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retains 85% plus original blue finish with some light edge wear and 70% original straw colors on the small parts. The grips are also very fine with some light handling marks and defined checkering. Mechanically excellent.
