This is an example of a post-World War I Luger made at the factory using some leftover military parts with intent for sale to the United States commercial market. Although it is not marked as such, it was probably imported by one of the early importers like the Stoeger Arms Company or Abercrombie & Fitch. The chamber area has the distinctive American Eagle crest with the DWM logo on the front toggle, "MADE IN GERMANY" marked on the right of the barrel extension, and "crown/N" proofs on the left of the barrel extension and left of the breech block. It is fitted with a 5 7/8 inch barrel chambered in 9 mm. The safety and extractor retain their original German markings of "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN". Matching serial numbers visible on most of the components with the breech block non-matching numbered "54", and an unnumbered front toggle, safety lever and grip panels. It comes with one nickel plated magazine with walnut base stamped "9 m/m."

Very fine, retains 85% factory refinished blue finish with smooth gray and brown patina on the balance and a few small patches of mild pitting on the top rear of the upper receiver, and 70% straw finish on the small parts. The grips are fine with numerous light dings and a few small chips at the corners. The hold open occasionally does not properly function, otherwise mechanically fine.
