Cased Factory Engraved, Gold Inlaid, and W. Niemeier Signed Krieghoff Model 32 Crown Grade Over/Under Shotgun Four Barrel Set - Serial no. 5285, 12 gauge, 28 inch vent rib bbl., blue/gold finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1974. Blued Buhler-Lauftstahl steel barrels with dual bead sights on the matted vent rib, standard Krieghoff barrel markings and German proof marks, and chambers marked 70 mm (2 3/4 inches) with automatic ejectors. The muzzle and the breach section are both engraved with floral scroll at the muzzle and line work at the breech with gold inlaid designs. The blued action features fantastic full coverage relief chiseled engraving mixed with multi-colored gold inlays. The left side of the action displays three mallards in flight being preyed upon by a raptor and the right side shows a pointer flushing a pair of pheasants all of which is surrounded by a single gold inlaid line border. Both the underside and the release lever have gold inlaid coronets with the addition of gold inlaid model markings on the underside. The upper tang and trigger guard are both engraved in the same style along with a single mallard on the underside of the trigger guard. The work is signed “W. Niemeier” at the rear of the upper tang. Single selective trigger and tang mounted safety switch. Beautiful, fancy figured, fluer-de-lis checkered forend with engraved fittings and Deeley latch style release lever. The pistol grip stock is of the same top-notch quality and has fancy checkered flats and wrist, contrasting ebony grip cap with diamond inlay, and Kick-Eez recoil pad. Included with this gun are three matching numbered extra barrel sets all with matching engraving and each measuring 28 inches with vent ribs and a takedown case that houses the whole set. Barrel measurements for the 20 gauge set (U/O): chambers marked 76 mm (3 inches); bore diameter 9 inches from the breech measured at .636/.636 inches; choke constriction .005/.003 inches; minimum wall thickness .036/.038 inches. Barrel measurements for the 28 gauge set (U/O): chambers marked 76 mm (3 inches); bore diameter 9 inches from the breech measured at .563/.562 inches; choke constriction .007/.007 inches; minimum wall thickness .042/.047 inches. Barrel measurements for the .410 bore set: chambers marked 76 mm (3 inches). Barrel and stock measurements for the 12 gauge set (U/O): bore diameter 9 inches from the breech measured at .733/.738 inches; choke constriction .006/.007 inches; minimum wall thickness .042/.041 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 1/16 inch drop at heel; 14 7/8 inch length of pull; cast-off; weight 8 lbs 5 oz. CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue and gold finishes, limited handling evidence, and sharp checkering on the wood. The extra barrel sets are also all excellent and the case is very fine. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 12,000 - 18,000
