Pachmayr Upgraded Engraved and Gold Inlaid Parker Brothers AAHE Grade Style Double Barrel Shotgun - Serial no. 241727, 12 gauge, 30 inch vent rib bbl., blue/ casehardened finish, highly figured checkered walnut stock. Manufactured near the end of production during the Remington years as a DHE Grade and subsequently upgraded by renowned gunsmith Frank Pachmayr to its current AAHE Grade configuration. Blued steel barrels with dual white bead sights on the raised, matted vent rib, 3 inch chambers with automatic ejectors, and both chokes marked “FULL”. The left side of the lump still bears the original D Grade markings. The barrels also display 2 1/4 inch wedges of floral scroll engraving at either breech. The casehardened boxlock action features carved fences, gold inlaid “PARKER BROS” on either side, “AAH” stamped by Pachmayr over the serial number, and near full coverage floral scroll engraving with attractive contrasting use of negative space. The gun has double triggers, gold inlaid serial number on the lower tang, and automatic tang mounted safety with gold inlaid “SAFE”. Beautiful, highly figured fluer-de-lis checkered walnut beavertail forend with matching engraved fittings and Deeley latch release and pistol grip stock with a hard rubber and gold grip cap marked “DONATED BY/NAN & FRANK/PACHMAYR/ TO/DUCKS UNLIMITED”, fluer-de-lis carved flats, and a Pachmayr “Old English” recoil pad. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter 9 inches from the breech .739/.736 inches; choke constriction .012/.018 inches; minimum wall thickness .024/.026 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 inch drop at heel; 15 1/16 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs 9 oz. CONDITION: Extremely fine as professionally upgraded by Pachmayr, retaining 99% blue and casehardened finishes, minor handling evidence, and a few tiny marks on the barrels. The wood is very fine with several noticeable marks visible in grip and sharp checkering throughout. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 8,500 - 14,000
