   LOT 1444
Exceptional Documented Colt New Service Target Model Double Action Revolver with Factory Letter - Serial no. 305686, 45 LC cal., 7 1/2 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. The included factory letter confirms the current 7 1/2 inch barrel, .45 Colt caliber, and blue finish (stocks not listed) when it was shipped from the factory to Schoverling, Daly & Gales
of New York, NY, on May 24, 1924 for Ulsh, Shinkel Hardware Co. While the grips are not list by the factory letter, both panels are marked “86”, the last two digits of the serial number, indicating that these are factory fluer-de-lis stocks. Standard markings with checkered trigger face, checkered grip straps, and adjustable front and rear sights.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 99% plus original blue finish, light handling evidence, and a very faint cylinder drag line. The grips are very fine and show a few small marks and retain crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

Original Box - Serial no. 26036, 22 LR cal.,
6 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips.
Manufactured in 1940. Standard markings and
matching serial number on yoke and crane. Comes with the original box, original target, and “Shooting Suggestions” pamphlet.
CONDITION: Excellent. The revolver retains 98% plus original blue finish with some minor loss at the muzzle, a cylinder drag line and the back strap thinning to a brown. The grips are also excellent with crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
The box is fine showing some minor wear.

Letter - Serial no. 334741, 38
special cal., 6 inch round bbl., blue finish,
walnut grips. The included factory letter lists this revolver as being chambered in .38 caliber with a 6 inch barrel, blue finish and grips not listed when shipped to Chief Olson of Ashland, Massachusetts on August 8, 1932. This revolver features a gold post blade front sight pinned to the barrel and
adjustable rear sight, checkered trigger, front strap and back strap. This is one of only around 2500 Colt Shooting Master revolvers in .38.
Charles W. Olson was chief of police in the city of Ashland from 1931 to 1934, as well as a Republican member of the Massachusetts State Senate. His obituary, besides stating his accomplishments in legislature, states his love for the outdoors. Besides being Chief of Police and a leading Republican of his time, Olson was a light heavyweight fighting champion and the Boston Common champion goat milker.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 98% plus original blue finish with limited handling marks, a cylinder drag line, and crisp grip and grip strap checkering. Grips are excellent. Mechanically excellent.

Target Revolver - Serial no. 20345, 22 LR cal., 6 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. Manufactured in 1938 with standard markings. Pinned blade front and notch rear sights, checkered trigger, and checkered walnut grips with Colt medallions.
Includes a correct Colt box with
number removed.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining
98% plus original blue finish with
limited handling marks and crisp grip checkering. Mechanically excellent.
Box is very good (see above) with some storage and handling marks
and a torn corner.
B) Colt Police Positive Target Revolver
- Serial no. 43408, 22 LR cal., 6 inch
round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. Manufactured in 1938. Standard markings and features. Includes original box, target and instructions.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining
99% plus original blue finish with light cylinder line, limited handling marks
and crisp grip checkering. Mechanically excellent. Box is fine with separation on
the lid and split corners.
