Number 58 Colt .38 Super
Semi-Automatic Pistol with Factory Letter
- Serial no. 58, 38 super auto cal., 5 inch round
bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. Manufactured in
1929, the first year of production. These Super
.38 pistols were first shown to the public at the
August 1928 Camp Perry National Matches,
and were available for purchase by the start of
1929. The left side of the slide is marked with
the two-line address and patent dates while
the right side bears the caliber marking along
with the Rampant Colt. The early two-digit
serial number is on the right of the frame and
the left of the trigger guard is marked “1” over
“VP” with “20” on the right. Fitted with blade
and notch rear sights, wide checkered hammer,
long grip safety, arched checkered mainspring
housing, checkered grips, and a two-tone .38 Super Auto magazine. The included factory letter confirms the current configuration (grips not listed) as well as shipment to Wolf & Klar in Fort Worth, Texas on 19 March 1929 in a shipment of 50 guns.
CONDITION: Fine, retains 70% of the original blue finish with the
balance having thinned to a mostly smooth grey patina, primarily
on the edges and grip straps. The grips are very good with some light wear and a few scattered minor dings in the overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

Colt Model 1903
Pocket Hammerless Semi-Automatic
Pistol with Factory Letter - Serial no. 200,
32 ACP cal., 4 inch round bbl., blue finish, hard
rubber grips. Manufactured in 1903, within the
first couple months of production. The left side of
the early barrel bushing slide is marked with the
two-line, two-block patent date and address, and
circled Rampant Colt behind the serrations. The
right side of the slide has the caliber marking.
It is fitted with a rounded blade front sight and
rounded top notch rear sight, nitre blued small
parts, checkered hard rubber grips with the
Rampant Colt and Colt scalloped banner, and a
full blue magazine. The included factory letter
confirms the current configuration (barrel length
and grips not listed) as well as shipment to
Hackett, Walther, Gates Hardware Co. in St. Paul, Minnesota
on 21 July 1903.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, retains 85% plus of the bright original
high polish blue finish and 75% plus of the original nitre blue with
the balance having mostly thinned to a smooth grey patina, primarily
on edges and grip straps, and scattered patches of plum light surface
pitting mostly on the left side of the slide. The grips are excellent with only the slightest handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

Desirable Colt Model 1905 Military Semi-
Automatic Pistol - Serial no. 5883, 45 ACP
cal., 5 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut
grips. Manufactured in 1906, this is one of
only 6,210 Colt “Military Model of 1905” pistols
manufactured over a period of six years. These pistols are a very important
evolutionary step in the development of Colt automatic pistols and the Model 1911
as they were the first production Colt automatic chambered for the legendary .45
ACP cartridge. The left side of the slide is marked with the two-line two-block patent
dates and address, with the circled Rampant Colt behind the serrations. The right side of the slide is marked “AUTOMATIC COLT/CALIBRE 45 RIMLESS SMOKELESS”. The left side of the frame is marked with the serial number and the left of the trigger guard has a “VP” proof and “W”. It has rounded blade front and rounded top notch rear sights, a lanyard ring at the rear of the butt, and a checkered spur hammer which became standard around serial number 3600, bringing the commercial Model 1905’s in line with the 1907 government contract pistols. It is fitted with a pair of diamond pattern checkered grips and an unmarked full blue magazine.
CONDITION: Fine, retains 50% of the bright original high polish blue finish, 30% of the original case
colors on the hammer, and 30% of the original nitre blue, with the balance mostly a smooth grey patina,
primarily on high spots, and a few patches of scattered light pitting, mostly on the left of the slide. The grips are very good with some scattered minor dings and scratches, and a few minor flat spots in the overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: The Gus Cargile Collection.

Pre-World War II Colt Government Model
Semi-Automatic Pistol with Carved
Eagle Grips - Serial no. C137457, 45 ACP
cal., 5 inch round bbl., blue finish, carved
grips. Manufactured in 1924, this is an attractive example of a pre-World War II
commercial Colt Government Model pistol. The left side of the matching number
slide has the two-line address/patent dates and the right side has the caliber
marking followed by a Rampant Colt. The barrel is a post-World War II replacement
marked “COLT 45 AUTO” on the chamber hood The left of the trigger guard is marked “1/VP” and the
right is marked “51”. The right side of the frame has the Government Model marking over the serial
number. It has the “old model” features including the replacement long smooth trigger which has been
milled down slightly and polished, replacement wide checkered hammer, non-dished frame sides, and
flat smooth mainspring housing with a lanyard loop. Fitted with a pair of period replacement eagle
carved grips and a two-tone magazine.
CONDITION: Very fine, retains 90% plus of the original high polish blue finish with some light edge
and cycling wear, primarily on the leading edges of the slide. The replacement trigger has been milled
shorter and polished on the face. The grips are very good with some hairline age cracks and crisp
carving. Mechanically excellent.

World War I Era Colt Government Model
Semi-Automatic Pistol - Serial no. C25091,
45 ACP cal., 5 inch round bbl., blue finish,
walnut grips. Manufactured in 1915, this
early Colt Government Model pistol falls within multiple serial
number blocks shipped in early 1916. These blocks, according to Goddard on p.
259 of “The Government Models: The Development of the Colt Model of 1911”,
include; 1,550 pistols shipped to the government of France, 100 to Abercrombie
& Fitch Co., and 300 shipped to London Armoury Co. The left side of the slide has the standard
two-line, two-block patent dates and address, caliber marking on the right, and Government Model
marking over the serial number on the right of the frame. Replacement barrel marked “P” with
polished chamber hood. Fitted with fixed blade and notch sights, checkered diamond pattern grips,
and a two-tone magazine with lanyard loop.
CONDITION: Very fine, retains 75% plus of the original blue finish with a few scattered patches of cold
blue visible over light pitting visible on the slide, some light edge wear, and the back strap having
thinned to a smooth brown-grey patina. The grips are excellent with a few scattered light handling marks
and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
