steel plaque mounted to the left side of the stock reading “Texas Gun Collector’s Association/Winter Gun Show 1971 Dallas, Texas/”BEST OF SHOW”/Most Outstanding Weapon”. This carbine comes from the collection of well known philanthropist
Richard P. Mellon. An avid collector himself, one can only imagine what incredible firearm would have won him this award. CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 98% plus original blue finish and 97% plus original gold finish with some
spotting and patina on the receiver and scattered handling marks. Mechanically excellent.

Action Army Revolver with Case, Book, and
Badge - Serial no. 94T*R, 45 Colt cal., 7 1/2 inch
round bbl., silver finish, original grips. Standard
markings and features along with the rollmark
“TEXAS RANGER COMMEMORATIVE ‘One Riot -
One Ranger’” on the left side of the barrel, “TEXAS
RANGERS” down the back strap, a silver high relief
wreathed lone star at the top of the back strap, and
a silver Texas Ranger badge on the left grip panel.
This revolver also features 80% coverage floral scroll
engraving with a star on the trigger guard and “Bill
Borchert Larson/Dallas-Milwaukee” on the barrel.
Signed “OSJ/Aug. ‘70” on the trigger guard. Includes
a two drawer display case, a copy of A Pictorial
History of the Texas Rangers covered in longhorn
rawhide, and a Texas Ranger badge carved out of a
silver Mexican five peso coin encased in lucite.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 99% plus original
silver finish beginning to age darken and crisp engraving.
Grips are excellent with limited minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Case is very fine with a few minor storage and handling marks.

Ben Lane Double Signed Engraved and Gold Banded Colt Texas Ranger Commemorative Single Action Army Revolver with Display Case, Book, and Letters - Serial no. 8TR, 45 cal., 7 1/2 inch round bbl., blue/gold finish, carved grips. The idea of the Texas Ranger Commemorative Colt Single Action Army revolver was conceived by Charles Schreiner III and Robert B. “Bob” Berryman in 1969 and production began in 1970 with a total of 1,000 manufactured. Serial numbers 1TR to 200TR were reserved for the deluxe engraved examples such as this gun. Each revolver came with a special commemorative glass-top presentation case and a genuine carved Mexican 5-peso silver coin Texas Ranger badge, as well as a copy of the book “A Pictorial History of the Texas Rangers (Schreiner & Berryman, 1969). Manufactured in 1970, this revolver features mostly full coverage floral scroll on a punch dot background, geometric patterns, and a wolf head hammer engraving executed by Master Engraver Ben Lane. The barrel also features two gold bands at the muzzle and two more near the frame. The rear of the engraved cylinder also features two inlaid gold bands. The left grip features a high relief carved longhorn steer head. Each flat of the front strap, back strap, and hammer feature a gold inlaid line following the perimeter. The back strap also features the inscription “TEXAS RANGERS” in a western font as well as a silver raised relief wreath around a Texas star. The barrel. cylinder, grip straps, and hammer feature a blue finish with the frame being gold plated with a black background on the engraving. Lane’s “BGL” signature can be found on the front of the frame under the cylinder pin, as well as his monogram on the front strap ahead of the trigger guard. Includes walnut, two drawer glass top display case, a copy of “A Pictorial History of the Texas Rangers”, acrylic encased Texas Ranger badge carved out of a silver Mexican five peso coin, and shipping boxes for both the gun and display case.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine as engraved by Master Engraver Ben Lane. Retaining 99% blue finish and 98% plus gold finish with some minor flaking on the frame, limited handling marks, and crisp engraving. The grips are very fine with an attractive aged coloration and sharp carving. Mechanically excellent. Case is very fine with limited storage
and handling marks.

manufactured. Serial numbers 1TR to 200TR were
reserved for the deluxe engraved examples. Each
revolver came with a special commemorative glass-
top presentation case and a lucite-encased genuine
carved Mexican 5-peso silver coin Texas Ranger
badge, as well as a copy of the book “A Pictorial
History of the Texas Rangers (Schreiner & Berryman,
1969). This revolver bears the ending serial number
‘1000TR’ of the production run making it quite
unique and desirable. Included are the two-drawer display case, a copy of “A Pictorial History of the Texas Rangers”, the Texas Ranger badge as described above and the cardboard shipping carton.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% plus original blue and silver finishes and case colors with only the slightest handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Case is very fine with a few minor storage and handling marks.
