Manufactured in 1936. This first series Woodsman features the highly desirable Colt-
King Super Target sight
conversion with added
serrated vent rib on the
barrel marked “COLT-KING
SUPER TARGET” on the
left side, Patridge blade
front sight with inset
reflector, and fully adjustable rear notch
sights. Standard markings on the barrel,
frame, and slide, serial number on the front
grip strap, checkered grips, and full blue
Colt Woodsman marked magazine. Includes
original box with “SPECIAL” sticker on the end flap of the lid above the standard label.
CONDITION: Excellent. The pistol retains 95% plus original blue finish remains with some light high point and edge wear and handling marks overall. The grips are very fine with moderately worn checkering and small dings. Mechanically excellent. Box is good with corner and edge wear, separated corners on the lid, tape repairs, and discoloration.

“COLT” followed by “AUTOMATIC/CAL.22 LONG RIFLE”
and the Rampant Colt trademark on the slide. Checkered grips and blued magazine marked with model/caliber information. Complete with Colt paper hinge box numbered to the gun, sight screwdriver, and papers.
CONDITION: Excellent. The pistol retains 97% original blue finish with slight edge wear and some
minor thinning on the grip straps with numerous long scratches on the front grip strap. Grips show additional coat of linseed oil, otherwise very fine with a couple light nicks in the overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The box is fine with some separation near two corners and some minor edge wear. Estimate: 1,800 - 2,750

Outstanding First Year Production Three Digit Serial Number MT281 Colt First Series Woodsman Match Target Semi- Automatic Pistol with Original Box - Serial no. MT281, 22 LR cal., 6 5/8 inch slab sided bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. Manufactured in 1938, the first year of production for the Colt Match Target Model pistol. Standard two-line address/ patent dates marked on top of the barrel. The left side of the barrel is marked with
the early “MATCH/bullseye/
TARGET” model marking.
“THE WOODSMAN” is on
the left side of the frame,
and “COLT AUTOMATIC/
CAL. .22 LONG RIFLE”
followed by the Rampant
Colt is on the left side of
the slide. The serial number is marked on the butt. Fitted with
blade front and adjustable rear sights, serrated trigger, serrated
panel on the back strap indicating it was designed for high velocity
ammunition and two tone blue magazine marked “COLT WOODSMAN/CAL .22 L.R./MATCH TARGET MOD.” Fitted with the desirable checkered “elephant ear” grips with Colt medallions. Includes the original maroon box, matching numbered test target, grip block, and hanging tags.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 99% plus of the bright original blue finish with only the slightest muzzle edge wear. The grips are also excellent with only the slightest handling marks. Mechanically excellent. The box is very good with some mild edge wear and some scattered minor handling/storage marks. A benchmark Colt First Series Woodsman Match Target that would be welcome in even the most advanced collections!

Excellent Pre-World War II Colt Woodsman
Semi-Automatic Target Pistol with Box -
Serial no. 141125, 22 LR cal., 4 1/2 inch round
bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. Manufactured in
1937. Adjustable target front and rear sights,
with the left side of the barrel having the
two line address/patent dates marking, “THE
WOODSMAN” on the left side of the frame,
and “COLT” followed by “AUTOMATIC/ CAL.22
LONG RIFLE” and the Rampant Colt trademark
on the slide. A “P” assembler’s mark is stamped
above the Colt “triangle/vp” proofmark on
the left side of the trigger guard bow. Fitted
with checkered walnut grips. Includes Colt
Woodsman paper hinge black box (numbered
to another gun), sight adjusting screwdriver,
cleaning rod, and associated paperwork.
CONDITION: Excellent. The pistol retains 98%
original blue finish with some mild thinning
on the back strap, some scattered light
handling marks, and some slight edge and
muzzle wear with very limited minor pitting
at the muzzle and on the front grip strap. The grips are also excellent with some scattered minor nicks in the overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The box is fine with some scattered minor edge wear and some edge separation. About 2/3 of the end label remains.
