Description:

This is an excellent example of an original pre-WWI, DWM Model 1906 first issue/altered Imperial German Navy Luger. These were the regulation pre-WWI Imperial German Navy issue Luger as used all the way through WWI and even into the Weimar era. This a very scarce variation, as it still retains its six-inch barrel as almost all were reworked to the four inch barrel or destroyed under the Versailles Treaty after WWI. This series of Navy Luger has the standard grip safety, with the altered second pattern (upper) marked safety with no chamber date. The left side of the barrel extension has the double Crown over "M" proofmarks with the smaller Imperial "Crown" firing proof, that is repeated again on the left side of the barrel. The frame and underside of the barrel are both correctly numbered with the full serial number (2221). The last two digits of the serial number (21) are correctly stamped on the various small parts. The back grip strap is unit engraved "W.W./551". As noted this Luger retains its original issue matching Navy magazine that has the nickel plated body with the wooden base with the concentric circles on the ends. It is correctly stamped length wise on the wooden base with the serial number (2221) and the matching property marks "551" on the spine.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 95% plus of the arsenal refurbished blue finish overall, with edge and high spot wear. The various small parts retain 75% of their straw colors. The grips are also very fine with nice original checkering, mixed with some minor handling marks with both sides having a matching dark color. This highly desirable Naval Luger has matching numbers to include the magazine as noted above. This is one of the best examples we have to offer!
