Description:

This is a restored example of a matching WWII German MP40 Submachine gun as used by all German forces. These MP40 SMGs were highly prized as war trophies even during WWII and are even more desirable today and are probably the most sought-after WWII SMGs. They are termed a Machine Pistol, hence the "MP" model designation in MP-40, but they are still a true fully automatic submachine gun, firing from an open bolt using the 9mm Parabellum cartridge. They were produced by three primary factories; Erma-Werkes, Haenel and Steyr, with this example produced by the Steyr factory in 1940. They were an excellent wartime machine gun that utilized steel stampings combined with limited machined parts to increase manufacturing speed and reduce time and cost. The top of the rear receiver end cap is stamped with: "MP40/bnz/40". The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number "5828k" with the appropriate "WaA623" Waffenamts on the various parts. It has the dark red lower receiver cover with the dark brown, bakelite grips. The trigger group, folding buttstock, barrel nut, bolt, firing pin and rear sight are all correctly serial numbered and matching to the receiver. The resting bar is a post war stamped replacement parts, but looks correct on the weapon. This MP40 is complete with an extra post WWII complete bolt and telescoping recoil spring assembly. The bolt is the later version with the fixed firing pin in the bolt. This desirable SMG does not include any magazines.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as professionally reblued with clear markings and proofs on all the various parts. The lower receiver cover and grip are in fine condition with nice color. A very nice looking fully functional WWII German MP40 submachine gun NOTE: This item is restricted as a National Firearms Act (NFA), Fully Automatic Weapon that is currently registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (BATF&E) that has been classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11.These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C.
