Manufactured by Charles-Francois Galand (1832-1900), a French gunsmith operating shops primarily in Liege, Belgium and Paris, France. The company continued under his name until 1942. This pair of pistols are very close imitations of the "Lord" pistols manufactured by Stevens in the United States. "GALAND/FABT" is marked on the left side of the both of the frames and there are Liege proofs on both the left of the frames and barrels. The bottom of the interestingly shaped heptagon barrels are marked "5676/200" and "5675/200" for the "A" and "B" pistols respectively. Both are fitted with a beaded blade front sight and an interesting adjustable rear sight that is similar in many ways to those fitted on the Bergmann Model 1896 target pistol. They are both fitted with a pair of smooth antique ivory grips. The pistols share an included hardwood case that is fitted for both the pistols as well as the included shell primer, screwdriver, and cleaning rod.
Exceptionally fine, retains 95% plus of the original blue with some scattered small patches of light pitting and 95% of the niter blue on the rear sight. The grips are excellent with a few short hairline age cracks around the grip screws. Mechanically excellent.
