M.J. Chaumont was active c. 1840s-1860s in Liege. These pistols have rifled barrels with dovetailed blade front sights, "M.J. Chaumont fabt in Liege" in gold inlay accented by gold and silver inlaid scroll patterns, and "LF," "10," Liege proofs, and "11.8" (A) and "12.0" (B) on the undersides. "JCH" is marked inside the forends. The standing breeches have notch rear sights. The locks have "M.J. CHAUMONT/FABRICANT A LIEGE" in gold inlay and scroll engraving. The gilt nickel-silver furniture has masks, scrollwork, and classical bust compartment covers on the pommel caps. The stocks have relief carved scrollwork and fluted wrists.
Very good as refinished with a dark brown blend of patina and applied finish on the lock and barrel, thin gilding on the furniture, most of the bright gold inlay remaining on the barrel, aged patina on the silver, and some mild oxidation/pitting. The stock is good with a coat of varnish, mostly distinct carving, a few faint hairline cracks, some minor flakes, and general mild dings and scratches. Mechanically fine.
