Gauge Shotgun with Box and Factory Letter - Serial
no. C100, 20 gauge, 28 inch vent rib bbl., blue/coin/
silver finish, walnut stock. Blued Special Steel barrels
with single white bead sight on the matted vent rib,
standard barrel markings engraved in Exhibition fancy
script, 3 inch chambers, and chokes marked full/full. Coin
finished boxlock action with false sideplates features near full coverage tight scrollwork with tasteful accents of negative space.
The engraving extends to the barrel release and the barrels themselves. The trigger guard also is engraved in the same fashion,
however, it appears to be silver plated along with the lower tang. The trigger plate is signed “J.DUJARDIN” at the rear. The serial
number is inlaid in gold on the upper tang. Single silver trigger and tang mounted safety/selector switch with gold inlaid “S/UO”
indicators. Beautifully figured, multi-point checkered walnut Schnabel tip forend with engraved fittings and straight grip stock
with skip line checkered bare butt. Per the included factory letter and shipping invoice, this gun was built for display at the NSGA
(National Sporting Goods Association) show in 1975 or 1976, and was then sold to Ellingson Sport Center of San Mateo, CA on February
1, 1976 and shipped on the 20th of the same month. The gun has only had two owners since Ellingson’s retained it as a favorite until they sold it to our consignor in 2011. Also included are the original box and original Browning Superposed guarantee, both numbered to gun . Barrel and stock measurements (U/O): bore diameter 9 inches from the breech .625/.624 inches; choke constriction .030/.29 inches; minimum wall thickness .033/.030 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 inch drop at heel; 14 1/4 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original finishes, limited handling evidence, and sharp checkering on the wood. The box is good with some water damage and warping and some tearing along the edges. Mechanically excellent.
