Attractive Engraved New Haven Arms Company Henry Lever Action Rifle with Madis Letter

Engraved New Haven Arms Co. Henry Lever Action Rifle

Serial number dates to 1865. Receiver and buttplate tang feature a highly attractive scroll and border engraving, which in the accompanying letter George Madis references as L.D. Nimschke in style. The rifle is 20th century custom engraved by an unknown highly skilled engraver. Matching serial numbers are on the barrel, left side of the lower tang, stock inlet, and buttplate. The barrel has the two-line patent date/address marking and blade and folding ladder sights.
