Description:

This is a copy of a Henry Rifle configured/cut to the rare and highly sought after carbine length. While very little is known about Henry carbines factory documentation does suggest that a few guns were indeed manufactured in carbine lengths and designated for military testing or as prototypes. Nickel silver blade front and 900 yard folding leaf rear sight. The barrel has been skillfully cut down and properly stamped "HENRY'S PAT. OCT. 16.1860./ MANFUFACT'D BY THE NEWHAVEN ARMS CO. NEWHAVEN CT." The matching serial number is marked on the upper barrel flat just ahead of the receiver, on the inside of the buttplate tang, in the upper tang inlet of the stock and on the left side of the lower tang. The barrel sleeve is marked with the assembly number "768", "W" factory inspection mark is stamped on the lower tang behind the lever latch and there is a "C" stamped on the left side of the lower tang ahead of the serial number. There are only about 4 Henry carbines known to exist. This carbine has been skillfully manufactured to be nearly identical to a standard production Henry rifle with exception to the carbine length barrel.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The barrel retains 95% plus current blue finish showing edge wear on high points with a few isolated patches of finished over pitting on the upper barrel flat. The frame exhibits a pleasant even mellow brass patina with some minor handling marks. The wood is very good with a few scattered pressure marks.
