Manufactured circa 1860-1866 with this rifle being manufactured in 1864. Blade front and folding ladder rear sights. No maker's marks are present on the barrel. Matching serial number on the top barrel flat at the breech and on the inside of the buttplate. The rifle has the distinctive brass receiver and buttplate, and octagon barrel with integral 15-shot magazine. The barrel/magazine have a blue finish, the hammer and loading lever casehardened. The sling loop on the left side of the barrel and stock have been removed. The brass buttplate is the early pattern with rounded heel and a replacement trapdoor. The magazine spring is absent and the stock is a replacement.
