Serial number applied on July 25, 1907, as confirmed by the included fax from the Cody Firearms Records Office. This carbine features a factory-style No. 9 engraving on the receiver. The No. 9 engraving is documented in R.L. Wilson's THE BOOK OF WINCHESTER ENGRAVING, page 228 and in George Madis' THE WINCHESTER BOOK, page 370. The sides of the receiver feature engraved scrollwork, wide zig-zag line and dot borders and circular game scene panels of stags running through woodlands. The underside of the receiver has engraved scrollwork below the serial number and the top of the receiver has engraved scrollwork surrounding the Winchester factory oval proof. A wedge of engraved scrollwork that extends to the rear sight is featured on top of the barrel at the breech with the caliber marking "32 WCF" inside a panel. A Winchester factory oval proof is stamped ahead of the two leaf rear sight on top of the barrel. The top of the barrel also has the two line address/patent marking ahead of the rear sight. A saddle ring is mounted on the left side of the receiver. The upper receiver tang is marked with the three line model/maker/trade mark information. Full length magazine, pinned carbine front sight, smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a carbine buttplate.
